Peter’s Bride, Canada
A review by Rita Davidson, author of “Immodesty, Satan’s Virtue”
Mrs. Gail Mackay was the very first veil I received when I opened up the “Immaculate Heart Veil Registry”. And it was beautiful indeed! I didn’t open it up until many weeks later, when I opened them all at once so Icould photograph and write up the reviews.
I have to admit her letter gave me chills. She sent a “Joan of Arc” veil which I had no idea. Recently I have been researching Joan of Arc very much for my upcoming book, “Immodesty, Satan’s Virtue” and so this was thrilling to receive this. My desire is to bring back modesty, beauty and veiling as one!
Gail and her husband reside in Nova Scotia in the Eastern part of Canada where she sews. She was a special education teacher for many years and now works part time. She enjoys many hobbies including cooking, sewing, gardening and writing. They have no children.
When she got married she was looking for the perfect mantilla for her wedding. She hired a seamstress to make her a veil and alter her dress and she ruined it and never made the mantilla! So she had to put together a simple veil and had a friend fix her dress but she was so upset with herself for fearing to do it herself in the first place, she resolved to learn how to sew with lace and Peter’s Bride was born!
She has now has sewn veils for 5 years and has shipped to 20 countries as far away as Korea, Japan and West Java!
The veil sample she sent was a VERY UNIQUE lace, a two toned lace with a very nice feel to it, not light or flyaway.
It is a rectangular style, which I am guessing gets it’s inspiration from Joan of Arc.
Her veil arrived wrapped in pretty tissue with a net ribbon and gorgeous name tags on it. It included a plastic comb. Very well presented.
She is VERY CONCERNED about her lace and WHERE IT COMES from so has done a lot of research for ethically made lace so that workers are being paid a fair wage. She has found that Swiss lace meets her criteria.
One look at her etsy veils website I can NOW understand how she spends hours on her veils. They are truly works of ART. They remind me of heirloom veils Catholic women would have worn in the late 18th century.
I am so honored to have Gail join u s in the “Immaculate Heart Veil Registry” and her gorgeous veils all made in CANADA!
Please contact her and if you would like a unique heirloom veil custom made for you today!
